Day 2 - Privately Guided sightseeing in MoscowThis morning, your private car, driver and guide await to show you the city they love - and know so well. Begin in Red Square#WHS# where you’ll gaze in awe upon the colorful domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral. To the right is the ornate, turn-of-the-century façade of the historic GUM Department Store and before you are the carved cornices and towers of the State Historical Museum, built in 1894. Then drive past the Bolshoi Theater and ascend the Sparrow Hills for expansive views over the city. Admire the graceful spires of Novodevichy Convent#WHS# and then take a break for lunch on your own arrangements. Your personal guide is happy to offer recommendations including city landmarks and personal favorites. In the afternoon, your guide awaits to escort you past the imposing red-brick walls of the Kremlin#WHS# for a private tour of the grounds, including the gold-domed Assumption Cathedral. At the Kremlin Armory Museum, you’ll be spellbound by a dazzling collection of Imperial treasures, everything from bejeweled crowns and opulent coronation gowns to gilded coaches and Fabergé Eggs. Day 5 - City Sightseeing and the Hermitage MuseumThis morning, join your personal guide for a private car sightseeing tour showcasing the city’s myriad architectural treasures, starting with the handsome Baroque buildings that grace the bustling Nevsky Prospekt. Behold the massive gilded dome of St. Isaac’s Cathedral, one of the largest churches in the world, and then admire the stately elegance of the Church of the Spilled Blood, built at the turn of the century alongside one of the city’s many picturesque canals.
In the afternoon, your guide will take you on a private tour through the galleries of the Hermitage. Your specially-arranged visit includes the major collections of this world-famous museum, home to one of the world’s greatest art collections. Return to your hotel where the balance of the late afternoon and evening are at leisure. Meals B
Day 6 - Catherine PalaceTravel to Pushkin with your private car and driver for a personally guided tour through the resplendent Catherine Palace, a Baroque gem built by Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli who also designed the Winter Palace. Its spectacular interior includes the Grand Ballroom – a masterpiece of gilded mirrors and two-tiered arched windows – and the famed Amber Room, decorated with opulent mosaic panels of hand-cut amber and gold.
From mid-May through mid-September, guests will also enjoy an afternoon excursion to the gardens of Peterhof, the Imperial estate built by Peter the Great on the Gulf of Finland. During these warmer spring and summer months, the exuberant fountains of the Peterhof are on full display; explore its landscaped grounds graced with beautiful palaces built by a succession of czars, admire the gilded statues that ornament the park, and thrill to the incredible display of these Grand Cascades.
